Hey guys,
My feet have not yet touched the floor!
We all need to reach out to everyone you know who helped in anyway and say "Thanks a billion, you made a difference"
From the meeting with Kay Hagan to the personal note I received today from Ken Goodman, My Representative to be, we have come light years.
From the post below about the new resolution that will be mailed to ALL elected leadeers in this state next week, We have, together, moved a mountain!
Praise God, they are listening..I got a message from Ken today, saying we have given his campaign " a huge boost"
In a discussion with his spouse the night before, she made the simple statement, " Ken, what if we get cancer?"
He came to me during the meeting with Sen Hagan and said: "Perry, I have decided this is a winng issue, not a loser"
Praise the Lord! We have an advocate, a true advocate...and he comes with "power". the power of his father, who was sheriff here for 47 years. If you can help him, then help him. If you speak with your legislator, tell him to look for Ken, he will do the right thing. He knows enough to not be afraid..He has the truth on his side.
I am taking a break..for about a week.. then I shall return LOADED FOR BEAR!
This is the passed version:The following resolution was passed unanimously at the Fayetteville Democratic Party State Executive Committee Meeting on Sunday July 31st, the second year in a row this resolution has passed. The fact that it is unanimous and that every elected member of the Legislature will receive a copy next week is historic and newsworthy. You are a Critical Part of a democracy, do your duty and inform the people of our wishes

RESOLUTION: Asking the Legislature to Eliminate Bureaucratic Maneuvering and Pass NC House Bill 1380, An Act to Enact the Medical Marijuana Act
Whereas: A resolution to support NC HB 1380, The Legalization of the Use of Medical Marijuana when Prescribed by a Licensed Physician, was passed at the August 29, 2009 State Executive Committee Meeting;
Whereas: The Veterans Administration, in view of the above medical evidence, has recognized the benefits of Medical Marijuana (Cannabis) and is editing it’s pain management contracts to specifically exclude medical marijuana;
Whereas: PTSD is one of the single most difficult disorders to treat and Medical Marijuana has had such success in treating it that it now accounts for over 25% of New Mexico’s patients;
Whereas: North Carolina has one of the largest veteran populations in the country; Whereas: The US Conference of Mayors passed, unanimously, a resolution calling for improved treatment and harm reduction, including removal of barriers to treatment of PTSD and other war wounds with medical marijuana;
Therefore Be It Resolved: The Democratic Party of North Carolina take immediate steps to affect passage of legislation to legalize medical marijuana and to remove these barriers to treatment with medical marijuana for veterans and other patients whose doctors determine the treatment to be appropriate; and
Be It Further Resolved: That a copy of this resolution be sent to each member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, each member of the North Carolina Senate, The Council of State, and the Governor.
